NAEWASA is an industry sector association serving the New Entrants Commission constituencies. We are non-profit voluntary organization representing business people in South Africa in the Energy sector i.e. Upstream, Midstream, Downstream and Renewable Energy.
NAEWASA plays a critical role by proactively engaging with key stakeholders, providing research information and ensuring our members have access to markets locally and internationally.
We promote Energy Wholesalers, Power Producers, Manufacturers and Installers of Renewable Energy of New Entrants members for new and expanding businesses.

NAEWASA and the Department of Trade and Industry hosted a successful Transformation Workshop and support for New Entrants in the Oil and Gas Sector.

NAEWASA Executive Committee successfully initiated the Energy, Oil & Gas Transformation Workshop that is aimed at empowering New Entrants with support and access to funding to grow the sector, fast tracking "Prosperity for All". After having waited almost a year for a response after sending an official letter to the Department of Trade and Industry (the DTI), NAEWASA finally met with the Deputy Minister, Hon Bulelani Gratitude Magwanishe on the 6 August 2018 to present a developmental and transformation strategy that will ensure relevant industry stakeholders partner to promote and fast track holistic transformation and our National Development Plan (NDP) goals.

Mr. Jacob Maphutha - Deputy Director: BEE - the DTI and Team worked with NAEWASA in conceptualizing the envisaged support by New Entrants. He further acceded that "the DTI acknowledges the important role that NAEWASA played in ensuring that the workshop is initiated".

Outcome of the 1st NAEWASA AGM Meeting

NAEWASA AGM held on Tuesday, 11 December 2018 resolved to elect and fill open roles.

NAEWASA National Executive Committee comprises of the following individuals:

  1. Mr. Andrew Malumane - President (elected 10th July 2018 at NAEWASA in Rosebank);
  2. Mr. Maverson Mashaba - Deputy President (elected 10th July 2018 at NAEWASA in Rosebank);
  3. Mrs. Priscilla Selele - Secretary General (elected 2nd June 2017 at NERSA Auditorium in Pretoria);
  4. Mrs. Brenda Mfihlo - Stakeholder Executive (elected 11th December 2018 at Sasol in Sandton);
  5. Mr. Sizwe Nkonyane - Treasurer General (elected 11th December 2018 at Sasol in Sandton); and
  6. Mr. Elliot Ndzimande - Non Executive (based on Executive Members Discretion as of 25 October 2017)

2018 Highlights

Priscilla Selele, NAEWASA Secretary General participates at the Oil and Gas Women Summit at ULP by industry veteran and the current Sasol Oil Chairman, Mr. Maurice Radebe:



  1. NAEWASA signed MoU with EWSETA on identified Projects of collaboration.
  2. NAEWASA formed a strategic relationship with Wits Business School (WBS) Energy Leadership Centre.
  3. NAEWASA meets Sasol and also receives support.
  4. NAEWASA receives support from NYDA.
  5. NAEWASA Holistic Transformation Seminar at Wits Business School.
  6. NAEWASA pursues follow up Stakeholder Engagements sessions with Department of Energy and recommends for the setting up of Transformation Fund to assist New Entrants in the Oil and Gas Energy Sector.
  7. NAEWASA meets the Department of Economic Development.
  8. NAEWASA meets the Department of Small Business Development.
  9. NAEWASA attends the 25th 2018 Africa Oil Week in Cape Town and forms part of the Africa Oil Women Launch.
  10. NAEWASA meets Astron Energy CEO.
